Beautiful Things

Logline

A naive college freshman and mental health ambassador has her ideals when she's called to intervene in a nihilistic former-student's suicide.

Director’s Statement

Beautiful Things is the most personal film I have made. Taking my experiences from working in suicide prevention activism and juxtaposing them with personal struggles with mental health, this film explores the flaws in both perspectives. This is a love letter to Chicago, the city I’ve lived in for 4 years. It’s an appreciation of Fall, the season of change, of great beauty that gives way to the barren winter. This is a film about the beauty of all things, from the breathtaking city skyline to a rotting pumpkin a week after Halloween. Throughout the filmmaking, I fell in love with Silas and Autumn and I hope you can find love in these Beautiful Things.
